Imagine, if you will, getting a phone call from your brother during the middle of the summer. He tells you that he and his family (wife and five children) want to spend a week with you during Christmas. You haven’t seen him and his family in two years and are happy they have decided to come and spend the holidays with you and your family. Think for a moment about how you would prepare for their coming (meals, accommodations – room, separate bathroom, etc.).

Now, think about how the situation might be different if on Christmas morning you wake up and started opening gifts. Just then, the doorbell rings. You go to the door and there stands your brother and his family, announcing that they are there to stay a week to celebrate the holidays with you. How would you feel? Most of us would agree that we would rather be prepared for a visitor than be caught off guard by someone’s arrival. At Christmas, we celebrate Christ’s coming to earth. This Advent Season look at Jesus' Second Coming in Matthew 24:36-44.

Look at what Jesus said about being prepared for His second coming.
